Our recommended web browsers

Google Chrome is readily available and the most up to date mainstream web browser.   Get It Here

Vivaldi is another great browser, especially if you don't like the idea of Google or Opera tracking you.   Get It Here

SRWare Iron is exactly Chrome but without the Google, great.   Get It Here

Opera is another fine browser for using with UK TV SOAPS but not the mobile version.   Get It Here

Microsoft Edge has improved recently and now appears to play all our content but my testing is limited as I don't use Windows. Edge comes pre-installed on all modern Windows machines. If this browser doesn't play ALL our content try another one.

Amazon Silk is our current recommendation for Firesticks and Fire TV devices. Get it from your app store but please read my Test Report.

Firefox is pretty good but it just wont play my MKV format files yet. Maybe one day soon.

There are of course other fine web browsers available and I certainly haven't tested them all.

Mobile browsers

Safari on the Ipad is not a full web browser although it may be acceptable but given the choice Chrome is still better. The honest truth is that all mobile devices are little brothers to laptops and you cannot expect their web browsers to perform equally.

What do I use

I only use Linux (open source) operating systems so I am privileged to have available Ten's of Thousands of safe free open source software applications, one of which is The Chromium Web Browser. This is Chrome before Google get it and exactly the same but without the "Google". Not many people are aware that Google have never produced a web browser or operating system, instead they pay the open source Chromium Foundation to build these things for them. So that's where Google got the name "Chrome" from.

Vivaldi, Iron, Silk and many more browsers are all built from Chromium Foundations source code.
